  • E-Portfolio: Learners can record details and multi media evidence of their learning and CPD activities within their own online e-portfolio. The e-portfolio also provides facilities for creating action plans, diary entries and the creation of CVs by selecting information recorded within the portfolio. Axia Interactive Media (AIM)'s e-portfolio is the most flexible available, supporting subjective decision making and allowing a single piece of evidence to be matched against the assessment criteria of multiple professional organisations.
  • Competence Framework: An area where authorised users can build and maintain a competence framework which can be linked to evidence for the demonstration of competence in vocational qualifications.
  • Reporting - a flexible tool which allows a system administrator to create and maintain reports to monitor usage frequencies. Supports the creation of reports for individual users' patterns, allows the extraction of key portfolio data and presents information in an easy to read format.
  • Mentoring - this feature allows the creation of an online mentor directory containing key skills and contact details of potential mentors available either on a formal or informal basis for searching by prospective mentees.
  • Learning areas for the creation, maintenance and publishing of bite-sized learning materials on-line.
 
  • Collaborative working - supports multiple levels of collaborative working processes. Allows individuals to informally access colleagues' portfolios and make competency recommendations. Supports formal peer group collaborations both as simple discussion groups or joint coursework projects and portfolio submissions.
  • Content authoring environment allows content, news, policy documents and any other similar material to be developed and published within an on-line word processor style interface.
  • Careers area: Provides information on job profiles within the organisation as well as information on career development, e.g. obtaining funding for courses.
  • A Meeting / Discussion Place: This area allows members to join threaded discussions on a range of professional topics of common interest. Discussions can be set-up according to a variety of security and access profiles e.g. public, public restricted or private, for members only.
  • Information Services: This area includes a resource index with links to relevant external websites.
  • Individual Assessment Diagnostics allows the assessor or assessment centre to identify the existing skills and knowledge base of individual students and tailor their learning approaches accordingly.
 
  • Branded Interface: All AIM's products are designed to reflect the branding and generic "look and feel" of individual clients. In addition to maintaining a consistent identity, this also means the system can be seamlessly linked into existing or future web-based resources as a single integrated system. A single secure login ensures members need only be authenticated once using the same id and password.
  • Comprehensive Audit Trail: This enables genuine assessment judgments to be made for individual candidates. Decisions are not forced by a set rule base e.g. 'x' numbers of evidence submitted automatically means that someone is competent, which is considered inadequate by many organisations. Instead Candidates are deemed competent only when the assessor, having reviewed the evidence, makes a personal judgment that is the case.
  • Expert Witness: Allows external experts not formally part of the assessment process to be invited by email to comment on a section of candidate's portfolio. Typically clients use this feature as an additional confirmation to ensure that work presented is of the standards claimed.
